Granite State
Mystical Morgan History
The
Granite State Mystical Morgan met for the first time on April 5, 1997. The meeting was held at the Foy’s house in Kingston
NH. Cheryl Marcelonis, trainer and
instructor at CPM Stables in Newton NH and Sara Foy, client of CPM wanted to start this club for all of the kids at the barn
to further their horsemanship and take advantage of the opportunities available in the AMHA youth program.
Since its inception the members
of this club have accomplished the following:
Eight
members have competed for a total of 14 times in the Youth of the Year contest. Each member won numerous ribbons and
awards throughout the years and Christine Harb won Reserve Youth of the Year in 2006 & 2007.
We are happy
to annouce that this year 2009 Christine Harb was the winner of the AMHA Youth of the Year Contest in OKC.... Reaching her
goal has been a great adventure..
The eight members include:
Nicole Scovotti
Danielle Perrone Conway
Valerie Morneault Cuhna
Melissa Terry Hardy
Melissa Grubbs
Samantha Sargent
Kate Foy
Christine Harb
Six members have served on
the AMHA Youth Board/Council with Kate Foy and Christine Harb being instrumental in the reformation of the new Youth Council. Kate is currently serving as Vice President and Christine is the Secretary with both
Madison Wiles Hafner and Callie Merrill serving as Region 1 representatives.
Kate Foy is the Morgan representative
to the USEF Youth Council.
At least two alumni of this
group are pursuing their education in the Veterinary field. One is studying Equine
Business administration and two currently ride with ISHA collegiate teams. One
alumni is serving her second term on the Board of Directors of the Granite State Morgan Horse Society. Another is pursing
an Equine science degree at UNH.
The youth group itself has
competed for Youth Group of the Year several times and won in 2005 and received Reserve in 2006. The youth group has supported
several charities in the past including the National MS Society, the American Cancer Society, the AMHA Youth Board, several
local charities and most recently Team Morgan.
All of this was achieved
while maintaining excellent grades and participating in other activities such as band, math team, athletics, Girl Scouts,
FFA and of course riding!
The
current members of the Granite State Mystical Morgans are following in the footsteps of their illustrious predecessors! We
look forward to the future!
